Chimney Repair:
Because your chimney is exposed to the elements, it is crucial that you maintain it more so than other parts of the brick on your home. If neglected, your chimney may allow moisture to enter through cracks in the chimney cap, bricks, and mortar. As a preventative maintenance, all brick chimneys should be sealed with a siloxane sealer every five years. Siloxane is a "breathable" sealer that repels a large percentage of water and is recommended by brick manufacturers. Other sealers can have the unintended effect of sealing water in which can add to the spalling and cracking associated with neglected brick chimneys. Have your chimney sealed with siloxane to greatly extend it's life.
Also, examine your chimney from the ground each year using binoculars. If you see any evidence of cracking in the brick or mortar joints call us for a free up close examination and estimate in Hendricks County. An inexpensive quote is available for all areas in the Indianapolis area. Often, all that is needed is simple tuck pointing and caulking of the cracks in the chimney cap to prevent further damage. If properly maintained you can enjoy your brick chimney for years and avoid costly repairs in the future.
